What does it mean to be Under Polaris?
This week, we are very excited for the debut of artist Miwa Matreyek’s new work at the REDCAT Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Matreyek was featured in the 2009 Flux Super 8 and enthralled the audience with her live performance set against stunning animations.
This time around Matreyek is back as part of a collective called Cloud Eye Control, with writer, musician and actor Anna Oxygen, and director Chi-wang Yang.
Cloud Eye Control’s latest work, Under Polaris, tells the story of an epic journey into an Arctic wonderland. A woman embarks upon an incredible mission to preserve the finer elements of humanity in Arctic ice. Along the way, she disguises herself as animals to help her survive the elements-and in the process, learns about the delicate interdependence between humans and nature.
